Bridge 47: Building Global Citizenship

Bridge 47: Building Global Citizenship

Bridge 47: Building Global Citizenship is a three-year European Commission-funded project, beginning in October 2017. There are 15 European organisations involved in it, and it has four strands – the Bridge 47 Global Network, Advocacy, Partnerships, and Innovation.

IDEA is leading on the Partnerships work of Bridge 47, with a focus on building partnerships for Development Education both nationally and at a European level. Our aim is to broaden the practice and impact of Development Education through developing partnerships with new audiences, within the context of delivering the Sustainable Development Goals.

The type of partnerships being developed include Knowledge Exchange partnerships, encouraging universities and academics to increase their teaching and research of Development Education in higher education and to grow their interaction with those who are working in Development Education. We are also developing advocacy partnerships with government institutions and others who can influence policy change on Development Education, as well as exploratory partnerships which involve less familiar collaboration for Development Education practitioners with those in areas such as the private sector.
