Development Education Knowledge & Skills

IDEA’s Capacity Development programme supports our members in providing quality Development Education. This strand of our work facilitates up-to-date knowledge and skills sharing within the Development Education sector, enables IDEA members to connect with good practice internationally, and ensures a dynamic, professional, sector that embodies the latest thinking in global citizenship and education.

The programme involves:

  • Training and seminars on topics relevant to Development Education
  • Conversation Circles on issues related to Development Education
  • Knowledge Share Sessions led by IDEA members
  • Annual Conference
  • Monitoring & Evaluation training
  • Training on innovative approaches
  • Support to access funding for Development Education
  • Support on Organisational Management

We often run events in collaboration with our members.

IDEA’s membership is diverse with differing needs but we engage with our members to ensure that the training, events and support we offer throughout the year provide everyone with the opportunity to learn new and develop existing skills.

"This area is really important and the opportunities brought about the additional European DEAR funding has been transformative in many respects supporting Development Education (DE) practitioners and non-DE practitioners to engage in new and exciting ways, upskilling, and partnerships."
