The Charities Governance Code
2020 is the first year that registered charities are expected to comply with the Charities Governance Code and IDEA has been taking all relevant measures to ensure this. The board of IDEA confirmed our full compliance with the Charities Governance Code during Charity Trustees Week 2020. Prior to this IDEA was compliant with its predecessor the Governance Code for the Community, Voluntary and Charitable Sector in Ireland
In IDEA, we support the roll-out of the Code of Good Practice for Development Education to the sector in Ireland. As such we are not members of the Code and cannot sign up to it. We use the Code of Good Practice for Development Education internally in IDEA in terms of mainstreaming quality throughout our programme of work and strengthening our practice. Our focus has a particular emphasis on the organisational principles, and each team member focuses on the most relevant principle to their area of work.
IDEA is a signatory to the Dóchas Code of Conduct on Images and Messages. All of the organisations that sign up to this code have a responsibility to uphold the values of human dignity, respect and equality in all of their communications. You can find out more about the Code of Conduct here. If you would like to share any feedback on IDEA's implementation of the Code, please
As a Supporter of the Comhlámh Code of Good Practice, IDEA supports good practice in international volunteering and is committed to a vision of international volunteers working in solidarity for a just, equitable and sustainable world. We advise you to only support International Volunteering with a signatory of Comhlámh's Code of Good Practice. Find out more about responsible international volunteering and the Sending Agencies that are implementing good practice.
